Progress Report 2020 #7

It’s Friday, time to look at what we’ve done for the last week.

Catching up on a week’s worth of day-job work has felt like slogging through a swamp. But I’ve managed to find some solid ground, so I think the worst of it’s over.

Words written (week/YTD): 7,527 / 75,418

137-words of admin + 3 projects.

It is a testament to how ingrained my feelings of Productivity=Worth are that before I actually pulled these numbers I thought I’d basically “failed” this week. I mean… it’s still chewing at the back of my mind because I didn’t pass the 10K mark. But I’m working on those feelings of “NEED TO WRITE ALL THE WORDS.” It’s an uphill battle… like, 5.15.

But I managed to pass 2015’s February count of just over 30,000-words. And the reason I track things like that is to keep me from feeling like I’ve failed the whole month.

132 pages edited

Despite some attempts at interference from my two little assistants, I got a decent amount of editing done in three sessions on Tuesday/Wednesday.

That *should* be the last edit of that book, which I’ll be announcing shortly!

My editing stack hasn’t gotten much shorter, as two drafts (both short) were added to the “get to this” pile, and I’ll die with a colored pen in my hands, a manuscript half covered in rude comments to myself.

What I’m reading

I just started Quackery: A Brief History of the Worst Ways to Cure Everything by Lydia Kang and Nate Pedersen.

The second I see “snorting skull moss” in the blurb of a non-fiction title, you know I’m here for it.
